Tasmanian Tours

Travelwild Australia brings you Adventure & Tasmania at it's best. You too can experience the ultimate adventure and travel by 4WD on a tour designed for fit active people who love to explore. The Tasmanian Tours are led by a professional local guides and you'll visit out of the way places the busses and crowds don't go.

Each of the 4, 5 and 10 day Tasmanian Tours use 4WD vehicles and only take small groups of maximum 9 passengers. Activities include hiking, sleeping under the stars, swimming, camping and exploring the North, West, East and Southern Tasmania

The 4 day Tasmanian Tour covers the East Coast and hikes at wonderful destinations like Cape Raoul and Winegalss Bay, the 5 day Tasmanian Tour covers the West Coast, and hikes Cradle Mountain and the Tarkine, and the 10 day Tasmanian tour completely circumnavigates Tassie and does everything!

National Parks visited on the tours include Tasman National Park, Freycinet National Park, Cradle Mountain National Park, the Franklin-Gordon Wild Rivers National Park and Mount Field National Park

All 4WD Tasmanian Tours are camping tours where the group sleeps in quality Australian Swags (bed roll) in tents or under the stars around the campfire if weather permits. The campsites are typically bush camps with little or no facilities depending on the site, these camps are chosen for their remote locations and crowd free nights.

About Travelwild

Travelwild was established in 1998, we ran a single 2 day Adventure Tour around Kangaroo Island (then called Campwild) and had a very simple philosophy, "Run the best tours possible while exploring remote wilderness areas with small groups of active people."

These day Travelwild is a much different company, we now group together the best small group adventure tours around Australia, from Tasmanian to Kakadu to Fraser Island, all which follow that simple philosophy of small groups and adventure.

Travelwild doesn't offer the cheapest tours, we don't offer luxury tours, we offer adventure tours to people who think sleeping out under the starts is fun, who like swimming in outback waterholes, who want to learn about the traditional cultures of Aboriginal People, who realize that sometimes to get to the best places, to experience the best things, you might need to sit in the back of a 4WD and get covered in dirt and dust, or you may need to hike for several kilometres.

10 Years of experience in Australian Backpacking Tourism has taught us that the combination of Small Groups, 4WD Vehicles, Local Knowledge, Adventure Activities and Active People is a recipe for a great tour.

  • Small Groups. Travelwild only offers small group tours ranging in size from 9 to 14 passengers, smaller groups allow for better access to remote areas, creates less environmental impact and creates a much better tour dynamic. The reality is that big bus groups suffer because guides are too busy organizing a large group of people rather than guiding. If you want to meet other people and fun as a group, keep it small!
  • 4WD Vehicles. They may not be the most comfortable vehicles around, but if you want to get the best spots in Australia without the crowds you need to divert down some of our 4WD only dirt tracks. If you are prepared to rough it, then you'll be rewarded.
  • Local Knowledge is vital if you expect your guide to know what they are doing. Not only should your guide know about the local fauna, flora, geology and Aboriginal Culture, but they need to be passionate about these things. Locals know about local things, that is each Travelwild Tour is owned and operated by local individuals who live and love where they tour.
  • Adventure Activities are the best way to experience pristine wilderness areas, hiking, swimming, climbing, bush camping and canoeing (on selected tours) gets you into the bush and away from the crowds, and they are heaps of fun!
  • Active People, most Travelwild customers who travel on the tours we offer are between 18 and 39, come from all over the world, lead active lives and enjoy the outdoors, (most groups are around 50% males and females). If you want to have fun on tour, it's important you travel with people you can relate to.
